Description:

 

The Rosemount 8705 flanged sensors are fabricated from stainless and carbon steel and welded to provide a hermetic seal that protects against moisture and other contaminants. The sealed housing ensures maximum sensor reliability by protecting all internal components and wiring from the most hostile environments. All Rosemount magmeter systems use pulsed DC technology that provides continuous automatic zeroing to compensate for variations in the process environment; especially with following characters:

  1. All-welded sensor housing ensures reliability in the harshest environments
  2. Wide range of sizes, lining materials and electrode materials to meet all of your magnetic flowmeter needs, Applicable to pipe diameter from 15 mm to 900mm.
  3. ISO lay lengths.
  4. Sensor installation requirement: 5D from upstream and 2D downstream pipe straight.
  5. Accuracy: 0.25% for Standard and 0.15% for High Accuracy Option.
  6. Service: Conductive liquids and slurries.
  7. Transmitter selection: interchangeable with 8732E and 8712E.
  8. Upper range limit: 12m/s.
  9. Temperature limit: -34 to 65 °C for ambient and max. process range is -29 to 177 °C with PTFE and PFA lining.
  10. Physical specification:
  • Non-wetted material: 304SST or 316SST for sensor and flanges, fully welded material for housing and polyurethane paint.
  • Wetted material: PFA, PTFE, ETFE, polyurethane, neoprene, Linatex lining and 316L SST, Nickel Alloy 276 (UNS N10276), tantalum, 80% platinum-20% iridium, titanium for electrodes.
  • Electrical connection:Two 1/2–14 NPT connections with number 8 screw terminals are provided in the terminal enclosure for electrical wiring.

Step 3: Electrode Type and Material Selection

  Button Rosemount 8705 Flanged Sensors Standard electrode design. Use for most applications, especially where abrasion is a concern. Has fair resistance to coating which can be improved by properly sizing sensor.
  Bullet-nose Rosemount 8705 Flanged Sensors Use where coating is a concern and no solids are present. Bullet-nose electrode should not be used in abrasive or slurry applications as the particles will result in increased process noise on the electrodes.
 
Electrode Material Application Notes
316L SST Standard electrode material. Compatible with most low concentration water based applications. Avoid using stainless in higher concentration acid applications.
Nickel Alloy 276 Use in medium to high concentration acids where SST is not acceptable. Use in applications with high chloride concentrations, such as sea water.
Platinum
(80% Platinum, 20% Iridium)
Ideal for liquor applications found in pulp and paper industry. Also ideal as a spare electrode option to cover nearly every application in a plant. Compatible with nearly every process fluid.
